Chris Horner liet vandaag van zich horen op Twitter. De winnaar van de Ronde van Spanje reageert hiermee op de verdachtmakingen aan zijn adres. Horner is namelijk de oudste winnaar van een grote ronde ooit. En dat kan volgens velen niet. Hij was tijdens de Vuelta 41 jaar. En dat in het ‘nieuwe wielrennen’. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat ik zijn overwinning heel raar vind. Maar misschien kan het juist wél, nu de wielersport schoner zou (moeten) zijn. Maar goed, het beste resultaat van Horner in een grote ronde was een negende plaats in het eindklassement van de Tour de France in 2010. En nu wint hij zomaar de Vuelta.
